Hardwood Flooring is usually made up of many different components.
Most of the hardwood flooring we sell at Tony Rivera Flooring LLC is engineered wood flooring. We also offer accessibility to solid wood flooring, however, there are some vast differences. Hardwood flooring is a natural product manufactured by men. Usually, it will have a UV protectant and up to twelve very fine layers of lacquer or urethane. It depends on how the manufacturer produces the actual product.
We will install Shaw and Mohawk Flooring and Bellawood. Please know that there are thousands of different manufacturers and names these may be listed under.
There are also many different manufacturers that have this product available. We personally have some hardwood flooring that we prefer over others.
Below are some of those that we prefer here at Tony Rivera Flooring LLC.
- Hartco
- Provenza
- Bravada Hardwood
- California Classics
- Ayon Hills
- Christian Creek
- Grand Pacific
- Bruce Hardwood
- Parterre
- Mirage
- Ponds
- PLUS, we even carry Dogwood Floors, which is six times more dent resistant and four times more scratch resistant than typical hardwood. This has a hand scraped appearance and feels wonderful to the touch.
Many brands are available on the market made by companies like Shaw and Mohawk. There are hundreds of different company names. The most important thing you must do is work with us here at Tony Rivera Flooring LLC and we will help with the research required to ensure you get the best quality for your purchase.
Preparation: Below are the steps our Wood Flooring Installer will follow:
- The first part of the installation process at Tony Rivera Flooring LLC is to remove all debris on the floor.
- We then will inspect the floor for imperfections, high spots, and low spots. This part of the preparation is extremely critical.
- The subfloor must be perfectly smooth. The floor must be within 16th of an inch tolerance. If the floor is not 16th of an inch, then grinding may be necessary. If your preference is to not grind the floor, it will require patching, and filling all damaged areas of the concrete and or subfloor. This again is of major importance to your project.
Installation: As part of the Hardwood flooring Installation Process, below are the steps that the Hardwood flooring installer will follow:
- All baseboards will be removed.
- All door jams will need to be cut in even with some commercial applications and residential on occasion.
- An underlayment will need to be installed in most cases.
- Laying out the patterns.
- We will mix up the color variations based on your request.
- Properly spacing the end joints together.
- We will check for lifting, peaking or sinking.
- Most Manufactures require an 8inch overlap on end joints, but we will follow the Manufactures’s guidelines to ensure a beautiful finish to your floor.
- We also must make sure we use the proper trowel, this is critical.
- At Tony Rivera Flooring LLC we will only use the proper glue. If the manufacturer states to use their glue, then that’s the glue we will need to use. If they state to use a glue with a moisture barrier in it, then we usually go directly to the best brand glue which we believe is Bostik Best.
Finishing Touches: Finally, after your installation is complete, the hardwood flooring installer will follow the below steps:
- Reinstall your old baseboards. If the preference is to install new baseboards, we at Tony Rivera Flooring LLC will gladly install those for you.
- Install necessary transition strips quarter round.
- If specialty moldings are required, we will install those as well by applying caulk to your baseboards. This is done to ensure a clean look.
- Clean the floor very thoroughly and check for any imperfections.
- The hardwood flooring installer will make sure the customer is happy with the installation
The average cost to install the Hardwood flooring is approximately $6 per square foot. There are many factors that impact the cost such as floor grinding, special preparation, that may be required.
The timeframe for the insulation is dependent on the individual situation and severity of the work involved.
Adhesives may play a role in your pricing as some adhesives cost substantially more than others, however we will not cut corners especially with this part of the process.
Please note: This is especially true with our expensive higher quality, heavier and difficult to install hardwood flooring products.

Is hardwood Flooring more expensive than other types of flooring?
Yes, however it does enhance the value of your home. Hardwood flooring is something most home buyers would love to have.
Can Hardwood Flooring be installed in bathrooms, kitchens and or laundry rooms?
Yes, but we do not recommend doing this. If this is something that you want to have done, we suggest you put a transition molding between that area and the rest of your home. The reason we do not recommend this is in the event of a flood. We recommend you have additional backup materials stored safely in the home.
Please do not store the materials in the garage or in the attic. The additional materials should be stored in a dedicated space inside the home. The material should be laid flat so if the day does arise that you do need this product you have it safely stored away for replacement.
How long does Hardwood Flooring last?
At Tony Rivera Flooring LLC, all our Hardwood flooring products have at least a 10-year warranty. Most have a 50-year residential warranty, and a 10-year commercial warranty. We have been in Historic homes that have original hardwood flooring from over 100 years ago and still look beautiful.
Can I install Hardwood Flooring myself, or does it require a professional to install it?
In most cases it can be installed by the homeowner themselves. At Tony Rivera Flooring LLC, we will gladly provide you with free advice on how to install these products. We also can provide a demonstration; however, you must follow the manufacturer’s installation guide.
